a friend of mine thinks all thats needed to fit the ba engine into E series is to "shave the sump a tad" and "custom engine mounts" surely it takes more than this from wat ive read on this forum?

if you did a search you would have found quite a few threads on this...

its not quite that simple, the ba sump cannot be modified enough to clear the k frame, so a modified k frame is needed. and the e series engine mounts will fit fine, the more complex bit is getting it to run....

he reason the ba sump cannot be modified is the ba oil pump is at the front of the sump and there is a bulge cast into the sump to clear the oil pump...

Not tryin to undermine you there troyman, but what about this?

ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/au-sump-mod-for-e-series-t79648.html

I thought the pickup was too far foward too. This is spinning me out though unless the pickup from a EL bolts to the AU block the same like what would be in a hybrid motor...

Or a customized pickup...

Thats an AU sump, not a BA/BF sump if that makes any difference...

Ohk, my new thing learned for the day.

I thought AU/BA had same/similar bottom end design.

I thought they'd be nothing alike going from SOHC to DOHC and everything else about seemed different...

That makes sense. New engine design.

They look similar from the outside.

yea thats the au into e series..
in au the oil pump runs off the aux shaft like e series,
where ba dont have the aux shaft like au and the oil pump is
right at front of the block..
