G'day all,

Not sure if this is in the correct forum but it is for an I6 car.

Have booked my car in for its 50,000k 3yr 6month service and am curious what is included in the standard service and what they (the dealer) will say needs rectifying. I am a fitter by trade and can spot/repair most things while confidently saying yes or "take off" to a repair.

What have others been stung for (or attempted to be stung for) while in servicing?
If they try for front disc machining or a brake pad change I will be letting them know the specifics....so what else?

Thanks in advance,
EFfutura

Your vehicle logbook should have the change intervals for parts in it. A good mechanic will always keep old parts to prove he changed them. If not you definately should ask. One of my work BA XR6's shot a rod through the block because the mechanic that supposably serviced it obviously never did. The inside of the motor had no oil, just a thick sludge. Be sure to always see the old parts!!

Is that for a $300+ full comprehensive service?

When my Au was still under warrenty, it went in with blue injectors & came out with grey one's at no extra cost. never questioned it at the time why but I knew it was running a bit lean before then!?!?!

The car is out of manufactures warranty and is under a dealers warranty requiring servicing by them (I bought the car secondhand from a ford dealer). As you say Xpression the BAs have a 15,000k interval yet this dealers warranty supposedly requires a 10,000k interval so I am already dubious to this dealer warranty hence the 50,000.
I am debating whether I should just not worry about the warranty and get it serviced at 15,000k mark.

So looks like I will at least be up for the coolant flush, anything else anyone can think of?

Thanks all,
cya

Do a few searches on oil here, and google "oil sludging".

I change mine every 7500 km.
