One of my mates has a ba xr6 manual and on the cluster it shows you what gear your in (same position as auto) just wondering how this can be down because it's the first time I've seen or even heard about it.

Are you sure it was a manual transmission vehicle originally - vin number and check with Ford - if correct possibly has wrong parameters set in pcm/instruments etc. which need to be set by Ford

Mine has it, has been converted to manual with a flash tune.

Transmission originally came from a non abs ute, so had the speed sensor coming out of the box. If that's measuring output shaft rpm, it wouldn't be hard for the computer to compare that with engine room and derive what gear it's in.
