Having problems with the tiptronic manual mode in my 03 ba 4 sp.....i had spilt drink on it cleaned it up but it got stuck when i was in manual one day. Took a little force to get back to park, it was all good but since then i cannot change down gears only change up...
Is it very complex to unscrew the gear stick or take the whole thing to have a look and see if something is stuck???

do you mean when its in tiptronic mode you cant physically push the shifter up?
or you can push it up but it doesnt change gear?

i can push it up but it wont change down when i do so,its perfect changing up gears.....there's nothing electronic that may have been damaged is there???

the shifter just runs of a cable, i got one with a center console... so im not sure if theres a switch conected to the "shift up/down part or if its also cable... anyway dont stress... worst case a wreckers will rip you of and charge you $100 for a second hand one... and 10-15 mins to change
