im after peoples opinion on what car would be the best to get for the money.
spending more than i wanted and getting a BA XR6 for around 27000 or spending bout 18000 and getting a BA XT and having some cash to spend on it. i know resale will be more on the XR but $9000 is a big difference between the 2. ive even considered going in between and getting the fairmont for about 24000. any help would be appreciated.

We canot help because the between the two of them is exactly $9000 of new car. Why not wait anohter year and ask yourself the difference in cash between the XR6T and the XR6

Well just to put it to you a BA XT is actually quicker than an BA XR6 :) Because of all the extra wieght in the XR it is somewhat slower than the XT.

I would get a BA XT MKII personally :)

why not get a BA falcon SR, still an XT but with body styling kit, 17" alloys, 6 cd stereo and the sports blade suspension.

are you buying through salary sacrifice or fllet purchase?

ba fairmont / ghia?? the non-ghias seem to go for $23k-$30k, the ghias a bit more. that way you get a few more nice bits to start off with and mod from there... futura even??

I rekon go the XT and mod it.

Although there is one other thing to think about.... and that is the interior. The XR has way better seats (well at least they are trimmed better) and also you get the better dash etc....) Just depends if that is something you care about i guess????

Just my 2c.

Adz

Go the XR6 it's already got the suspension, wheels, seats, interior and exterior looks. Has higher resale.
Just think what you want to do with either car. How much would you spend on your XT? $2000 wheels and tyres? $1000 suspension (not as good as XR6 I bet) $1000 Exhaust, $400 cam, $1250 Chip tune, body kit $$$ interior mods $$$
And after all that you won't get the money back from those things when you sell it.

The XR6 already has them (except engine) and you will get your money back when you sell it. The only trade off is a bit of individuality.

there is no difference in the engine, its the same 182kw engine through the XT, Futura, XR6, Fairmont and Fairmont Ghia.

after buying a futura, and then buying the usual things for it, i think i would definately go for something that already had a lot of the things i want next time, as although its a slightly larger inital outlay, you save money in the long term and you have a much better starting point.

this does make sense. I change my mind - go for the XR :)

OR......
Get an ef/el for f**k all and spend 20k on it - then you would have a beast....

the xr6 cost about $9000 more than the XT,, spend $9000 on the XT and will have a faster and better car
