why dont you start with a Turbo short motor and tuffen that up!

Is there much difference between the N/A and the Turbo? From what i understood only Pistons and cam?
I might be wrong here :)
Cheers,

If your building an engine doesnt matter what block you start with, at the end of the day its getting pistons rods rings aftermarket cams springs ect for the boosted application,

Thanks mate, thats what i thought!
$220 for a BA engine compared to 1.5k + for a turbo bare engine :)
Ill go with $220 :D
Cheers,

But then spend $4,000 for a complete turbo kit from snort, which will support you 600hp. Upgrade the pistons and conrods so they don't snap or bend. Fuel pump, injectors, surge tank (if you ever get that low on fuel lol) cams, better tyres!, strengthened gearbox, LSD or spooled (only spool if you're going down the 1/4, f**k that on the street.) Look for at least a minimum of 10k to have a reliable 600hp, this is what I'm aiming to have done by Powercruise next year.

Are you going to do a bulk of the work yourself?

10grand and reliable 600hp...... Well reliable is very very questionable, easier said than done

look at it this way, you need a turbo kit.. An engine to build, the machining costs, the parts to go into it, include a good tune, ecu to run it all unless the ba ecu is up for the job(doubt it)
A gearbox to handle it, no t5 or btr will last long, a diff as the standard one probably wont be up to the task, fuel system, exhaust, engineering, fitting costs for anything you cant do.... 10 grands out the window pretty quick

Fixed. This is the situation - Cheap, Powerful, Reliable. Pick any 2. You can have cheap and powerful, but it won't be reliable. Cheap and Reliable, but it won't be powerful, or powerful and reliable, which sure as hell won't be cheap.

The crank alone for a setup like this would cost 10 grand................
Is there something in the water in Queensland?

UPDATE
So i have been speaking with Brad from Atomic Performance
Hes a great Guy! Highly recommend anyone talk to him for any I6 Questions :)
So I'm looking at a Phase 1 Rebuild kit. Comes with the following:
Phase 1 Rebuild Kits
• Atomic billet conrods - Superleggera (698kW rated) with pressurized oil feed to gudgeon pin bush and CNC machined/honed tunnels
• Cosworth F1 forged pistons with coated skirts, pressure fed gudgeon pins, piston crown cooling and nitro carburised steel turbo rings
• ACL Competition conrod and main bearings with jig drilled oil feeds
• H/Duty gudgeon pins and .063” wire locks
• Hi-temp silicon rear main oil seal

Thats just a lil Under 4K

Then i will need to choose my Turbo Ect... and go from there :) and really just see what i get.
Im waiting on a response from Brad to see what he says i should expect for power output :)

Brad from Atomic has told me the Phase one Kit makes 698KW at the flywheel and around 600 at the tread! :)
He gave me this Dyno of an engine with the Phase one kit and only running 98 Unleaded
Image
WOW!

Still going to need to get the Transmission changed and Diff :)
Sounds good so far!

Okay, I'll add on to my previous post then.

These figures are ball park, and just rounded down to give a minimum cost.
$3600 for the 698 P1 Rebuild Kit
$5000 for a Stage4 Snort Kit (will handle 700hp)
$2500+ Crankshaft
$1000 Fuel System
$1200 Exhaust System
$2000-$4000 Gearbox Upgrade (More depending on gearbox)
$2000 To strengthen the diff
$1000 Tyres that will keep traction at 700hp.

= $20,000 ish to have a reliable 700hp, and even then s**t will still break. When I said 10k minimum before, I meant BARE minimum. You can have it running 700hp from $5000, but you will snap s**t in a heartbeat.

you also need to consider pipework that snort does not supply ?
and atleast $1400 for the dyno tune..
