bahhahahaha cooki_monsta

hey Fordpwr.....if u dont want to make a mistake or get nasty surprises while pulling the motor apart.....go to like pick-a-part and look for a motor still in tact and then pull it apart. wont take that long if u have the rite tools. and yeah u dont care if bits and pieces fly everywhere but make sure u know what is what and where things are so that when u go to do ur car.....u know whats meant to be there. i was going to do that with santino (H3AT) but we didnt have the tools. would have been fun with valves snapping and springs jumping everywhere.

phong =P~

A mate of mine got given a tired old EA S the other day, which was used for parts for his damaged EB, then cubed. So, we decided to see what it was like to take the cam out. what we did was take the rocker cover off, then attempt to remove the llifters. there are about 16 bolts along the middle of this assembly, and about 12 along the bottom. We removed the ones on the top, loosening them off at an even rate to see if there was any tension on them from the valve springs (not much at all). after taking all of the bolts off, and lifting the assembly clear (holding the rear most lifters because they would otherwise just slide off), we then used a socket to remove the cam gear (had to remove that 1/2 moon thing), and then after taking the chain off the gear, lifted the cam clear of the motor. I did expect to see the valve springs come off and fly everywhere, but they stayed fixed to the motor. Im not too sure about the lining up of the cam, and finding top dead centre and that, but as for the installation (aslong as u know where to position the cam, which I don't, it isnt that bad).
