1: does it crank?
yes? chances are the coil OR the distributor module is faulty (common with ELs)
no? immobilized, smartlock issue, MAIN fuse or ignition barrel.

2: does the interior light work?
yes? smartlock module is getting power
no? lucky you.. heres a start, remove the dodgy fitted stereo and replace fuse and start the car.

3: is the smartlock light jewel flashing fast when ignition is ON?
yes? car is immobilized, you need to leave the car in THAT state (ignition on) for 1hour until the light stays on steady, also if you sleep in the car while waiting the door locks will cycle and wake you up telling you its ready to start. so when the lights on and the door locks have cycled proceed to crank.
no? then the car is not mobilized and you have one or more of the above and possible more issues!

I had this problem on and off in my NF although it's an 8 it would do nothing except small clicks somewhere, eventually found that the small wire to starters spade connector was really dirty and corroded, i replaced it and off she goes, now when it happens again I'll just replace it once more. :D

Hey guys sorry to bring up a dead post but saves time and space, I too have an EL and today i had the problem of it stalling, whilst i was out and about, leaving me stuck by the side of the road with RACV to my rescue, the RACV guy recons it's my distributor module, luckily, after an hour, it turned over when cranked and I got it home only stalling once more, it's an auto.

That seem like the EL problem? if so, how much am i lookin at to purchase a distributor module, i get free labour off family. :)
thanks.
