I drove my car about 20k's today, it got to the R which I thought isn't too bad compared to other drives, but it is not running at full power. If I drive it up a steep hill it really struggles and gets really hot. Could it be only firing on 5 cylinders? Is it the timing? Is it something else? How do I tell if its only firing on 5?

Just had a mate look at it, it makes a hissing noise and he seems to think that it is a vacuum hose
