i was driving my car like i always do and it was running beautiful as. got in it the next day and it wont start.

ive changed the leads, plugs, dizzy, coil, fuses and fusible links snd it still wont fire.

i then reset the ecu and now i cant hear the sound of the fuel pump turning on.

when i turn the ignition to the start position the engine will turn over then suddenly stop for 2-3 seconds then will start turning over again (this hapens when the key is constantly in the start position)
this has never happened before and the car always started first go.

any help will be much appreciated as i need my car for uni and work which are hours away.

Check and clean all earth leads under the bonnet. Clean and tighten battery terminals. Check/tighten/clean leads on the starter motor.

okay now the fuel pump has stopped working GARGHHHH

but before it stopped working it was pumping fuel but the injectors were not working (i think they werent) because when i checked the fuel lines there was alot of pressure in the rail? meaning the injectores r not injecting fuel?

the smartlock seems to be working as the radio comes on and the crt lamp fuse is fine. although when i try to start the carit cranks over then stops suddenly as if something is cutting it out?

What's the charge on your battery like? It might be having trouble getting enough power to crank over, though from what you have said I doubt it.

TFI Module / Hall Effect device in the dizzy could possibly be f**k. Check that out, and also check if the rotor button actually turns when to try to turn it over.

Check the earth to the engine block. The coolant temp sensor will also prevent it starting (I believe), so check that out as well.

In terms of fuel pump, try the relay.

do this.... under your overflow tank... the eggcrate.... There are 2 relays.... green and brown... unplug them both and u will see 2 "bigger" pins in both those plugs... link them 2 together on both plugs (using a peice of wire) and she will start. if thats the prob... clean terminals and replace relays.

also make sure u have enough charge in the battery.

okay i unplugged the 2 relays and linked them with wire and now it is pumping fuel again

so now im back where i started from, NO SPARK. the only think i can think of thats stopping the spark is the SMARTLOCK system. the injectore and coil/dizzy are still not getting power.

well if u hard wired the efi and fuel pump relays and wont start, all i can think stopping it is, yes the dizzy as some1 has said, a f**k coil u replaced it... totally f**k coil lead... stuffed ECU... , u no its getting fuel so its not the regulator or the relays now..... if u had a spare ea computer around u could try that, it doesnt need smartlock and will run an EB2....

** using the ea comp and an AUTO eb2 will not run the auto, this will just tell u if its an ECU or Smartlock related problem.

this may sound stupid but does the coil get earthed to the block by the mounting brackets?

Yeah i recommend checking your rotor button, check for corrosion and shorting.
