If its too loud, yes, plenty of people.
But not just for the exhaust itself.

Iv been pulled over for mine before. I gave it a bit at the lights and they pulled me over they tested it by telling me to keep my revs @2000 and leave it there while they tested it. It wasn't over the limit which was good. I have 2.5inch with straight through muffler and a hotdog on the end.

he replied with, any exhaust that sounds good will go over the 90dB limit.

There noise can range quiet a bit. A good condition cat and rear resinator and it's probably not going to be that loud to cause trouble. Were a hollowed cat, straight through centre to center muffler and diff dumper is going to be signifactly louder!
Remember the noise is dependent on your right foot - if your foots flat it's going to be making a lot more noise than if you just cruise past a cop.

redback system with muffler and resonator is rated at 87 db and the limit is 90db.

the redback system with hotdog is rated at 91db and the redback system with nothing is rated at 93

ive got nothing but pipe after my only muffler and driven past stacks of cops..
and ive got extractors and a cam and high flow cat so i get loud pops and stuff too on deceleration. yet to be defected. drove around 3 months with resonator decided to get it removed. that day i thought good game im gonna get defected within a week cos it was so loud and i havent yet and its been 3 weeks now

I've never been done for a loud exhaust & I've had 3 cars with them. I did get done for an Exhaust leak which wasn't real bad tho!
