One of your door locks is playing up....when attempting locking the car...see which lock wants to jump up first...will involve puting one's ear to the door to hear it.
That's how I have found them in previous models.......good chance its the drivers door....gets used the most.
Check the wear in the hinges on the door while you go.

2003 i think that's a BA. Correct me if i'm wrong.
cjh is right but from memery the BA's don't have rear door knobs so you cun't tell if there working properly. I sugest you operate the c/locking & quickly pull up the door handle to all 4 doors to see which on dosn't lock. The one that dosn't lock is the problem.
The c/locking motor comes complete with the latch assembly & if you buy a new one from ford you'll need a intergrated harness which dosn't cost much.
Good luck with it.
