My mechanic recently gave me a roadworthy, and they orginaly thought I had an oil leak, but turns out my engine was just dirty. He told me all I need to do was spray it out with a hose. Anyone care to shed some light on this for me? Is it as simple as just lifting the bonnet and spraying it out? Doesn't sound to smart to me. Cheers.

Cheers. lol get some degreaser and spray it all over the place. about 1 can usually does a good job. then just get the hose and just go for it.

try not to wet the dizzy too much. and if u have an air compressor handy u should blow all the water off when done, especially around the wiring connections

As the ED's do with the half moon rubber... They leak out the front... So I often hose (hot pressure wash) the motor... Its all fairly water proof...
Again the on;y thing I do recommend being an EL is to avoid the dizzy... I find when I was mine it starts and misses for a bit (at the dizzy don't seem to like any water near it at all) and then after idling for about 30 secs it comes good... also when water gets in my alternator it doesn't charge straight away... generally comes good after thirty secs too... nothing to major to worry about...

WD40? Used for what?
I usually don't carry a can when i go down to the car wash, but none the less, whats it fix?

WD-40 / water dispersant 40
basically if u wet any electrical sensors or the dissy, spray some in there and all should be good. |

The WD in WD40 stands for Water dispersant. It repels water , so if for some reason you did get some water where you where not suppose to then a spray of WD40 should help get the moister out.
