Top work there stockstandard.

It certainly drives everyone crazy seeing the same questions pop up every other day, and i guarantee it will still happen but maybe not as much.

So if I fitted an AU engine into my EBII.. could I bolt on the EB intake manifold to the AU head and everything else would be the same?..
oh and yeah the sump needs that bit ground off the front etc.

intriguing.. so apart from the fact that the AU engine will be newer is it actually any different internally?
or are the only power gains in the variably intake manifold which I would have to ditch anyway...

from the engine conversion thread:

Fair few changes here. In the bottom end, the crank got larger main bearings longer rods (6â€￾ compared to 5.88â€￾ in e-series). The rocker gear changed from 2:1 ratio to 1.8:1 (cams are not compatible with earlier engines). AU also received a alloy sump. Ignition went back to coil pack EDIS. AU's got sequential EFI at low rpm (below 3000), at higher rpm injection went back to bank fire.

i think the sticky is a band aid for the search, because IT DOESN"T WORK!

if it worked right do you think people would bother asking again?

Engine timing is the position/time the spark plug fires at on each revolution. Generally speaking, its advantageous to have more timing (spark plug fires earlier) but if it fires to early you run into problems.

EF's cant adjust timing as the ignition system is completely computer controlled. On ea-ed and el engines it is partially computer controlled so you can move the distributor to give more or less timing.

most of them, except for lows/superlows which belong more in the suspension forum and gas which would be in the fuel forum.

There are lots of other topics I could add - T5 conversions, diff gear swaps, chips and aftermarket ecu's, etc but not sure how much non I6 specific things to bring into the I6 forum.
