I've been having some issues with my EL Fairmont ticking on cold starts. The car will tick until it has warmed up to normal temperature and the ticking can vary from a lightish ticking to a solid tick. I also noticed that it smells like fuel when it ticks and it sounds like it is missing (only when the ticking is solid). The car is running 20w-50 grade oil and has only had a service about 2,000kms ago.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Sounds like hyd lifter noise or possibly the timing chain tensioner. How long does it take for the oil light to go out on a warm or cold start? You service it yourself?

The oil pressure is fine, usually sits around the 4 - 4.5 mark all the time and we get it serviced by a trusted mechanic.

Just over 208,000kms. When we had the cam refitted, the tuner said to use castrol magnetec, but we've always been told the rule of once the car gets to 200,000kms to use 20W-50 grade oil.
