hi, I have looked through a few threads and im still not sure how to wire the knock sensor up...

I didnt know anything about it when i did my el conversion :? , i think when i took it ford for a check over the removed the knock sensor and put it an oil level sonsor or something like what i had for the 3.9L MPFI engine, i'm sick of it pinging in the hot wheather, i worried what 2 years of driving has done to it  .

If you dont mind could you please show me a pic of where the knock sensor is on the block (my block is el) and what plug i use and where i wire it up to etc?

Thankyou
Clint

the knock sensor goes in where the bolt goes to hold your coil on i think and the wiring diagram is Looking at my EL 1996-1998 Gregory's manual the knock sensor is

Black/White- pin 46 ECU Sensor Earth (bridges with map sensor, coolant temp sensor, intake temp sensor etc)

Yellow/Red-pin 23 ECU Knock sensor signal

hope that helps

Yes i thas an EL ECU. Ok thankyou for that info, il try an get it sorted soon thanks.

Il have a look 2nite but, is there only one wire or clip running to the MAP sensor?

Maybe this will fix my crappy idle, disconecting the ISC make no difference, it still goes up and down it wont stay constant.

So i bridge into the earth of map, coolant temp and intake sensor? Is the manifold temp sensor the sensor in the middle under the thottle body of the inside of the BBM?

Just trying to make sure :)

Oh well your not alone then, we both have idling issues.

Anyways i went and got the plug off the knock sensor 2nite, my block has the knock sensor in it but its not hooked up...

It has blue/yellow wire and a blue/black wire, the blue/black for earth and the blue/yellow for the signal i assume?

sounds really suss... I'd be taking it to a ford joint or someone with a tester and getting them to check the electrical system... sounds like another sensor is way out of range and causing it run bad... shouldn't have to install a knock sensor to fix it...

Yeh mete the sensor seem to help it for a day then it went back to its old self with a very un settled idle. I think it could be the ISC or TPS or i dont know... anymore idea's?
