hey everyone...i knwo ive been on this forum for yonks and have read plenty of stories about which extractors to go for. but im still confused

i want pacie extractors...and there are 2 to choose from 4499 and 4480. now comp series is supposed to be the one with better flow and top end torque, and the 4499 for bottom end torque for column shift and all that jazz.

but which one out of the 2 would be better if i was to get my head shaven and a cam to go with it....mild cam only though.

btw im just asking not going to go out and buy it just yet...cause i was pondering on doing an engine transplant with an AUIII engine....though i dunno what they are worth at the moment and if it would simply fit into the engine bay...but thats beside the point.

EL engine is fine and runs well.....but im not sure to do an engine transplant or just do up the engine i have at the moment.

cheers everyone

phong =P~

What are you hoping to gain by throwing in an AU engine?

All i can suggest, is you find where you are wanting to make the most gains, and choose your parts based on that. There isn't really a definitive answer to which is the better extractors, they're both good in different respects.

i think the general consenus is that the 4480's are much better for road use/day to day driving. wheres as the comps are more suited to track work etc, where you want more top end power.

in the end i guess it depends on what you're going to be using the car for. wouldnt have a clue how your other planned mods might affect the operation of the extractors though

mild cam/shaved head & dailey driven? find out whats the power band of the cam first. if it makes power/torque from 1000 to 3500rpm then go for PH 4499's but if after a cam that makes power from 3000 to 5000 or more then go for the 4480's.

then again you mention mild cam, so I'll go for the 4499's where its more usable on the street.

AU 2 & 3 has a stronger bottom end & most of those long motors sells from $500 dollars upwards.

What are you after?
Since your cars a fairy, I'm asuming it's auto, personaly I'd be looking for more down low and mid range oomph, as with the auto that's lacking because of the slush box and the long first gear, so most of the time you'll still be in first when you stop booting it (asuming that a lot of driving is in 50/60kmh zones), therefor I'd say you want low down torque.
Go the Pacemaker Comps. There what I got, they s**t all over my previous Lukey/Walker 'motivator' headers.

Either choice will be a good one, Pacie headers are very well made and work well.
That said, Comps are the go. Its what I have and they are top notch. Better then the JMM Race headers I got rid of to fit them IMHO.
4480's, best I6 Falcon headers by a long way.

you see if an AU engine is 500 bux...i wouldn't mind buying one of them now (hopefully with low kms) and then do an engine transplant....at least ill know the engine is strong and the head won't blow as easily...thats why i want to do a transplant.

with the extractors...i would go with a 4499 because most of you said it gives low end torque which is what im after and with a mild cam and shaved head that would suit low end torque?

You've got it the wrong way around, Comps (4480) aree for good low and mid range, if you don't believe me,, call Pacemaker. Read Gaz's post too.

This is correct. The 4480's are the "midrange" exhaust.. the best allround setup. The 4499's are all for top end and not as suited to auto's that need punch off the line.
Basically the Comps (4480's) will improve launch and hold their own all the way to redline. Unless you have an I6 revving at silly rpms then the comps will be the better setup. Its all very minimal though, either set will be a huge improvement over a stock setup.
