Is an aftermarket ECU illegal? Or does it just mean they have reason to do an emissions test or similar?

the cop said to me that lowest is 340mm on the rear and 350mm on the front, so i got done 20mm all the way around, and the s**t thing is that they have changed the rules where are defects for suspension reasons goes to the inspection station here (regency)

For WA it's minimum clearance 100mm and can't lower more than 30% of original ride height.

And dont forget 500mm from lowest point of the reflective part of the headlight to the ground.

Too low is a bullsh*t reason for defecting a car IMO.

I had a friend with a hotted up Astra (one of the Opel Euro models) that was defected for being too low but the d***head measured it with 5 people in the car! When he took it to the inspection place it was *just* legal height.

Best of luck getting past whatever crap they try on.

Nice XD btw 8-)

The onus is always put back on you. You'd probably be required to demonstrate compliance with the relevant ADR (i.e. report)... and they'd probably still perform some sort of emissions test.

Love the tips here guys...

Will be sure to get one of my more attractive lady friends to come along to regency... and i'll leave 5AA tuned on the head unit :)

Does anyone know anyone who has put a "baffle" in their exhaust to get through an inspection. My mate put a baffle in his exhaust on his holden and it went through just fine.
Cause i need to put a baffle on mine cause the standard cat back system won't fit on my car due to the extractors.

thanks

from the boys i know that have been through regency, the car pretty much needs to be stock.

aftermarket ECU wont pass if the find it.

depends on who you get and what mood they are in..

make everything look s stock as possible.

well guys she goes in tuesday, its all ready to go. tint has been removed, standard air box in, full exhaust taken off and standard system on, kings spring out, standard springs in, subs out, stockies on, mudflaps on, blue lights off standards on. only thing i didn't do was take out the powerchip.

i got a quote from the guys i bought it from, it would be $270 to take it out and de-tune it, and $270 to put it back in and re-tune it.

wish me luck guys. "fingercrossed"

p.s. thank you to everyone who helped me out in this matter
