I would not be going backwards in modern Fords.
I would rather trade the car up for a S3 XR8 220KW or T3 series 250kw in Blue print & IRS with decent brakes : Sorry AU's win hands down performance & looks in my opinion.

It's not a good idea to sit there stalling it up for 10 minutes though, I guess the torque converter would start to heat up a bit.

transmission cooler is the key word.

I'd start with a manual conversion!

And you could trade in on an EF which are lighter, but the EL's look better than an EF ;)

i will take on any AU on that challenge!

Bwahahha, DONE!
Great ocean road... my I6 AU with IRS verses your Live rear axle. Power on that road is irrelevant, its a road for balance and outright grip.

An EF may look slightly better than an AU forte but calling the EF good looking is stretching it a bit IMO. I would have no hesitation in jumping out of the ED and into an AU XR8 or T3 but I wouldnt touch anything in between.

Youll nead them cause even Konis wont stop the inherent bumpsteer and the GOR is a victorian goat track.. I mean road.
As for P Zeros, they have a heap of grip but if they are off the ground with bump steer they may as well be retreads.

Sorry but the EF was a nice car thats rear end didnt know what its front end was doing (yes, I also own an EF) and, unless you want to totally reconfigure the rear pick up points, they will never have the same poise and control as an AU, especially the IRS equipped AU's.
