I got very brave and decided to put the el xr6 cam back in and ive had no joy at all, it runs but it is very noisy and has .8mm too much clearance on the valves at tdc and has been run for roughly 1.5-2 hours and been driven and so forth.
I pulled the rocker cover off to check why all the rattling and thats when i found the clearance issue, well .8mm much of it.
I am a bit lost as where to go from here because the motor isnt getting any quieter?
Didnt think new lifters took this long to settle down, i even pre soaked them.

I just wanted to find out why i have this problem before i remove the cam and rockers and go back to the au stuff again tomorrow(for the fourth time).
Its just frustrating not knowing why it doesnt work???????
What a fuc..d idea it was to mix and match parts from the au and e series :( i am prepared to say that it runs like a truck with loose tappets and has officially beaten me once again :(
Lucky ive got a reliable v8 that drives around and gets parts to fix this poxy 4.0.
