Thought i would dial in the cam today cause ive got the correct tools but never bothered doing it intially.

To my surprise, the cam was already EXACTLY in the correct position.... to the f**k 0.001" of an inch...... this was sitting at "0" on the vernier gear.

So no gains to be made there lol

yeah after driving it for awhile i believe its as strong as before, but with a single spinner diff its hard to get power down, so track times lie to me as well lol

why is it that you have left it a zero? i know its probably what was resomended by the manufacturer, but if its not working properly at zero, why dont you try retarding it a degree or 2 and see how it goes?

i left it at zero initially, but when got to dialling in the cam, i didnt have to touch it as it was already making the specified lift at "0" on the vernier gear i found

I know what you mean by experimenting with it at different positions, but its already running nice and the gripe that i had with making less power than the other cam is only numbers on a graph luckily..... as it still feels strong.

Just waiting on fitting lsd before i hit the track, maybe even slicks as i would like to launch how grechie did with his awesome time, as he's got the same gearing in the box and diff as me.

Fordfairmont i have the the wade 977b-114 in my engine. I am very happy with it but i would like a little more up top. I got the wade 1521a -114 and was not happy with it. On the dyno i gained 3 extra kw but lost 30 nm of torque and yes i did feel it when driving my car. I put my 977b-114 back in and felt the torque straight away back again. I do love the 977b-114 cam but i feel it lacks a little top end.
I was looking at the wade 1543B cam that you have tryed. I just like to know from your experiance which cam you liked overall the wade 977b or the 1543b cam ?
And yes i know it's been a while according to this thread.
I also like to know what lobe seperation was your 977b cam ?

I haven't tried either of those cams racer but why don't you try a CMS cam? They do make some awesome power and you already have a head from them.

Racer, the 1543b didnt work well in my car, however it later went into another members EB with same mods but with extensive headwork and the car was a beast. The headwork seemed to be the key to its performance.

The 977b, i cant remember the lobe sep, i experimented with a couple variations. If you do a search with my username as an author, and the cam profile as a keyword, you should find alot of posts of me babbling shiit and being real enthusiastic about it all.

My fav cam was the 1521a with 112 lobe sep,......... lumpy idle and screaming top end.

racer, I had the 977b-114 then changed it to a 977b-110. that was fun in the manual, stock tickford head. made 154rwkw, but had more in it but the programmer stopped working while tuning. im now running a 1214a (I think it is) which is just smaller than the 1521a. running a safe tune at the moment til I can get on the dyno to tune it fully. very happy with it so far. I also have a 1543b waiting to go in when my worked head gets back.
I could probably get my mates 977b-110 if you want one. he isn't using it ATM and we are going to run an au head/cam when I build his new engine

Thanks for that ranga83. But i am sticking with the 977B -114. am happy with it but lacks a little up high. I do drive my car everyday though. Next step is turbo from here. i do want to take car off the road to restore it into a show/weekend worrier car.
Thank you fordfairmont for your reply.
