as title says, i have been offered an EA T5 complete kit, from a friend that wrecking his car. i know this gearbox can take some power (his car was faster than mine) and the gearbox is freashly rebuilt. and its at VERY good mates rates :)

now i what to know is there any issues with a EA t5 in an Ef? only thing i know of is it has no synchro in reverse, and i need an ef manual comp.

will it fit my driveshaft? crossmember fit? stuff like that.

thanks
Rushed

The box/crossmember/bellhousing will fit

The flywheel and pedal box are different. If you use the EA flywheel you will have to use EA clutches, not EF. The EA pedal box wont fit straight in, but can be made to fit.

want some pics of what I have done so far? I pulled the dash board out. cut the s**t out of the pedal box to match the ef one, but it does go in no problems if you are good with an angle grinder, not a great deal of difference but youll know what i mean when you take the two out and compare.

Ea box etc will go in fine. Im using an ea box/flywheel etc in my el, and it all bolts in like it should. As for the pedal box, I used the pin mount from Mal Wood, heaps easier than pulling the dash out and stuffing around cutting up a diffrent pedal box so it fits.

ok I have bought the following so far :
(these prices were pretty cheap)
Clutch kit - $220 pbr if I recall correctly
Clutch cable - $35
accelerator cable $30
manual boot for shifter (el gt Vinyl *grr*)$30
spigot bearing $18
machine flywheel - $50
couple of resistors to trick ecu
other crap to re route lpg wiring 7 different coloured wires at 5mt each x 25c a metre
3m of heatshrink tubing
12 pin connector
100 odd cable ties

cost me bout 40 for that stuff.

oh and now time is the main factor and motivation.
i have a mess in the driveway called a car.
but it will get there eventually :S

Are you able to use the EA box, but with an EF flywheel so you can use EF clutches?

For some reason i thought EA's would have less of a range to choose from in clutches (strong ones...) than EF...

ok i actually bought an ef clutch with the six holes, but as the ea flywheel only has 3 bolt holes i will only be using those. i told me mate at repco about this and he said the clutch kits were the same from ea to el or something along those lines. I finally have the engine out, but I'll be riding to work tomorrow :( ah well. get to use a ba on tuesday till thursday :)
I cant see why you couldnt use an ef flywheel. but i couldnt be bothered with any more rigmorall. looks like my head gasket is weeping out the side of the block too on the exhaust side at the back and front of the engine :GRR: ah well
this is part of the fun isnt it???!?!!?

if ouy are going the nalwood pin route, i HIGHLY recommend getting the pedal box strengthened with welds as i have already gone thourgh one pedal box as has rapiers. pin ripped through the metal.
