hi there just wondering if any one can HELP me iv`e check the belts power steering pump all OK. wondering if it mite be steering rack upper & lower and if so is it hard to do your self ,and how do YOU DO it . OR WOULD IT BE BETTER PAYING SOME ONE TO DO IT ! THANX PEOPLE`S :roll: :roll:

how rya mate.. look from experience most of the time its the power steering pump.. When changing it take the old one off its very simple only about 4 to 5 bolts.. but before removing the pump disconnect the lines from the back of the pump.. When you fit the new one lift up the front of the car when first starting it to have the wheels off the ground and start it and let the pump suck down the fresh oil and then while the wheels are still off the ground turn it lock to lock about 10-15 times then lower car..

Tools needed 13mm spanner, 14mm, 17mm, and 15/16 for the belt tensioner..

I had extremely stiff steering in my EB2. Spent $270 on fitting a new pump and it still didn't fix it. I put abit of general oil in the bearing where the steering column goes through the firewall on the cabin side and it fixed it straight away. Apparently its a fairly common problem.
