Hi all, after having a change over auto installed in my EB6 cyl it blows blue smoke about 10 seconds after startup for about 10 seconds. It's a fair amount of smoke but then it's fine until the next time.
I'm confused what it could be and wondering if possibly they have knocked something off or damaged something when installing the auto?

Can't recall it happening before the auto was changed.
Other than the smoke, it runs pretty good (360,000km though).
(runs on LPG - I'll start on petrol tomorrow and see if it makes a difference)

Any ideas appreciated.

that sounds right. if it is blue smoke - small amount of oil seaps past valve stems while motor not running and is burnt off when the motor kicks over.
Not a great problem, be more inclined to wait for head gasket to blow before playin with that problem.
Its possible that its just overfueling on startup but not probable.

Thanks guys, that was my first thought.
But the deffinate delay and recent auto install made me wonder.
With stem seals it usually is right on startup.
anyway, I'll keep an eye on it.
I'll also think about the over-fuelling because I had the gas convertor changed recently as well.
thanks again.

When you had the auto done, did they do any other servicing like an oil change? Is it possible they just overfilled the oil and its slowly burning it off?

Good point. They didn't; but it was in for a RWC not too long ago so they may have at least topped it up.
I'll check tomorrow.
Thanks.

Not sure what you mean..
Have I stuffed up the years?
I know they're EB and EL but now you have me wondering I'll check the years.
(I went from memory - which is not so good)

Fair enough - I checked the rego sticker on the "EB" and it says 1994. I suppose I was a bit silly relying on the rego sticker...
El is with the wife - so unless she totals it before she gets home, I'll check it too. But it's probably the same story.
I have changed my details though. 93 EB and 98 EL.
Cheers
