hi guys, been a while since ive been on, been to busy with the other project.

my ed has been leaking oil from the sump since ive owned it, been considering just doing a swap for another motor as i dont really have alot of room to pull mine out and put new gaskets through it. I have read el need the sump modified but do the ed's need the same treatment?
or am i better of trying to just pick up an ed xr6 motor and throw that in? mine is just a normal 6 in the fairmont ghia.

An AU engine would be the best, but if you want to change everything over without modifying the engine loom, sump etc. go for an EL short engine and swap over your ED accessories. You could also get a complete EL engine and run the wires for the BBM.

It's a good idea to change the timing chain, guides, sump gasket and rear main seal while the engine is out.

It's giving me more reasons to do it now aswell, took it fora spin yesterday started coughing and s**t and then low water light came on limped it home, gonna have a look at it this arvo hopefully it's not a head gasket I saw it leakin from the inlet side of the motor but couldn't pin point it. I'm hoping it's just a leaking hose dripping onto the dizy making it run like s**t :/

AU motor wont ever give head gasket issues... Also fits in the ED with just the front rib ground off the alloy sump... See my build thread...

Cheers,
Tim
