In first gear the car seems to shake for a split second as i gently touch accelerator as if its not engaging the gear...any ideas on how to fix?

Drunk or high?
Anyway... twirquirky you say it shakes, is it a shake from the motor dropping revs?
I know on gas, my fairmont idles too low, and leaving the auto in drive at traffic lights it'll get a bit of a lump in it, and shake a tad.
If that's the case it's an ISC or base idle problem. Try doing the ECU reset and relearn procedure.
If that doesn't help probably the ISC.

Yeah it just shakes like its about to stall.

How do I check ISC? Mechanic?
