does it sound likes its not firing propaly, i had the same sorta problem the other day and so i replaced all the spark plug and it cleared it up, so i'd say it musta been a fouled plug, hope this helps

the coilpack usually just up and dies. Sometimes you get some warning, but usually, it decides to just give up say one bank so you will still be able to drive it, albeit with an awful ride.

to check leads just get a multimeter and check resistance

Correct! You can check the leads with the multimeter by doing a resistance test!

You can also do the same / similar thing with an ef coil pack! Not sure exactely how it's done but a test was just done on mine recently cause i lost cylinders!

Turns out i had a broken valve spring on cylinder one!

The coil pack is in the vacinity of 150 to 200 off the top of my head! Burson / repco is the ebst option due to them both been made by bosch electric! Difference with the ford one is it gets a ford logo and bosch on it and the burson one has just bosch on it!
