Welcome to Fordmods,
There is a Gearbox forum, where a moderator will probably move this post, a browse or search there may be of some more help to you.
The flashing power/econ light indicates an overheating transmission.
How long after you first start driving the car, when cold, does it take for the light to start flashing?
If it flashes when you know the engine and trans are cold, it's probably a sensor problem.
Do you have a trans. oil cooler fitted on the EF Futura? It will make answering the next question easier.
Is the fluid circulating freely?
Step 1 is the fluid pumping from the box? if so
Step 2 is check the tran cooling system for flow, which is
Step 3 is the fluid returning to the box?
Try to answer these questions before thinking of replacing your gearbox.
Cheers
Paul
