do change intake mani gasket
use GENUINE FORD AU GASKET AND HEAD BOLTS!

with the porting, it all depens how far you want to go.
If i was you, i wouldnt get any porting as such, maby just a clean up. Get rid of the casting burs/dags

The std head flows about 330hp and you'll be running about about 240hp. This is a rough conversion but it is a good "rule of thumb"

If you do ever decide to go for a igger cam/ecu/injectors blah blah blah, THEN get some head work. BUT with a custom cam to suit flow rates and the rest of the motor.
Cams of the shelf are designed to run with std heads.
Too much flow/not enough pressure will loose you mid range tourque.

so the bottom line is, you'll prob have to get the head faced(maby) and if you have to get the head guy to de-bur your intake/exhaust ports. Dont get a "port job" as you will prob go backwards. You'll need to tune and get a new cam to suit.

trust me, ive been there done that. So decide what you want to do, how much money/power and what driving you want it for then go from there.

PS: go to ALL TOURQUE ;)

OK, I've talked to the guys at ALL TORQUE and I'm pretty happy with their prices...

I'm looking at $300 for getting the head machined, and all the ports cleaned up so everything is flowing welll.

That also includes valve reseating and flow testing and gasket matching.

This is all assuming that the head doesn't need welding. If it does I could be looking at up to $550 for a new head.

I might get the chip re-tuned but I'm so short of money these days that it won't be for at least a while.

I'm running so rich in the high revs and at idle but.

Those prices seem very reasonable.
