Maybe a fault with the cam angle sensor located where the distributor would normally be in a non coil pack engine.

i cleaned the connection but it made no difference, it has a timing chain noise so was just wondering if its stripped the timing cog or jumped a tooth or two

Power to the coil pack doesn't mean s**t. 4pin connector from memory, 1 will be battery voltage the other 3 are earth reference triggered by the ECU. Check the other 3 wires first to make sure your getting the earth trigger from the ecu while cranking...

ok so i just pulled the crank angle sensor off and found it half rubbed thru from the serpentine belt and bits of belt wrapped around the crank trigger........ could this be the cause of my dramas?

ok so i replaced the crank angle sensor still no start, ok so how do i check the coil wires?

do i run the test light to positive or negative as they are supposed to receive an earth signal from the ecu?

i had cam chain noise which was due to one of the plastic tensioners breaking and dropping down, the chain was rubbing on the timing case.

its a pain in the buttocks to change aswell
