They run 7 or 8 i think. Yeah, on the quarter in a perfect situation the two of you would be very close, would come down to car condition.

Well he made the right choice to replace his gearbox with an XR6, I'll give him credit for that.

I found myself up against what I believe was a Silvia last night (definitely Nissan, and looked just like the pic on 1st page of this thread).

It was definitely Turbo, I could hear the 'POOTSHHHH' of his blow-off valve as he pulled up next to me, and then he started stabbing the revs ...so I figured it was 'game on'.

I must admit, I didn't fancy my chances, and his car looked pretty damn sleek 'n' mean ...but I thought what the hell, this would be a good test for the ol' DEV 5.

Anyway, I didn't let on I was up for the challenge ...until the lights changed.

We both got a good launch, but I got away a little quicker ...and as I went for 2nd gear he was practically alongside me.

As soon as I hit 2nd I started pulling away from him, I took it out all the way to 5000 rpm, and hit 3rd gear ...no probs with the Steeda quickshifter.

3rd gear in my DEV EL is awesome, it drops in at about 2000 rpm & then pulls like a freight train all the way to 5300 rpm.

Anyway, by the time I hit 4th, he was over a couple of car lengths behind me ...my speedo was up around the 160 kph mark.

I slowed right up & let him fly past me ...I'd made my point.

Nonetheless, I was still surprised that I'd whooped him ...and a little proud, too!

Well, it was definitely a Turbo ...dunno if they can be Turbo as stock.

I think I caught him by surprise a little ...as I don't think that he thought I would take him on!

You cheated :p.
A turbo needs revs to buiild power and you didn't let him launch :p.
A stock S13 silvia K's (turbo) only has about as much rear power as an early xr, and weighs about 1300kg. I've beaten them to 100 before in the stock xr ;), most of the ones around the place these days run low 14s with a good launch. It would had to at least have had a pod to whooooooosh lol.
So yeah, you should have beaten him ;).
