You are correct, its not a fuel pump issue. Any hints then? Please. Injectors? Cause this is starting to do my head in. I've never had a car that was this difficult to get running....

I pulled it out & cleaned it but I do have spark. Confirmed it with a timing light

^^ How does an immoboliser work? Surely it doesn't allow spark, fuel and cranking all at the same time? Aparently after crash starting this car runs fine. Smartlock allows this?!

Hell, I know Smartlock is Stupid, but that really takes the cake.

To be honest, no. I have since pulled the battery out to charge it now anyway

Went back to it tonight, threw the battery in. Tested injector pulse; all good. Found no power at the fuel pump :? Checked at the relay; all good. Plugged fuel pump back in & it fired up.

Must have been the fuel pump :D

Could not be fuel pump if the car ran fine from a crash start.... Must be some reason for the fuel pump to be dying.....

No fuel pump means no fuel to engine. No fuel to engine means nothing happens.

These cars run a pressurised fuel system.
TANK >
PUMP >
FUEL LINES (with inline filter) >
FUEL RAIL (with injectors) >
PRESSURE REGULATOR (keeps pressure in fuel rail at 270 or 300 kpa as per manufacturer install - 300 XR6, 270 base models) >
"RETURN" FUEL LINES >
TANK >
PUMP >

etc...

Fuel keeps moving around in this loop. The pressure created from the pump blasts the fuel through the injectors and into the motor. The injectors are only open for a split second when the cycle in the engine is at correct position to accept fuel... The inlet valve opens and the engine sucks the fuel and air into the combustion chamber.

If fuel pump stops for whatever reason, so does the car. Pretty much instantly.

I'm picking I possibly didn't plug the fuel pump back in properly after I replaced it or dodgy connections at plug. Thats the only conclusion I can come up with

Thank you for your input fiend

Does anyone still do new fuel pump relays for the EF's? Ford says they're obsolete :?

(yes it stopped again )

Have you checked both the fuel pump relay and the ECU relay under the header tank?
Check them both for signs of corrosion

Ok so I picked up 2 2nd hand fuel pump relays (one for spare) & threw one in; success. Been running perfect for a good couple of days.

Now driving to Tauranga, hit the Kaimai's & half way up it died. Coasted to a halt (amongst traffic) turned the key & it fired straight up again. Did this 3 more times before I got to the top. Driving around tauranga it appears to be any sharp or fast LH turn & it dies.

Have noticed that the oil pressure gauge seems to be reading quite high then drops down to half when cruising at a steady speed then fluctuates. Not sure if this coincides with it cutting out yet. Yes it has plenty of oil

Pickup backwards perhaps?
