Hello Guys
New to the forum, have a quick one.
Am in the process of removing my motor from my El falcon without the Auto trans attached, and was stuck with how to remove the bell housing bolt on the Left hand side right up the top as it is right under the firewall with a pipe running across it,

any help would be greatly appreciated

Kind Regards

Jake :D

You will need a few extensions, and a swivel on the end before the socket. The easiest way to undo the bolt is from underneath with the car up on stands. Same for reassembly and torquing the bolts up. Make sure you use 6 point (or impact) sockets.

Put the bottom bolts of the bell housing back in tight.
Remove thermofans from the front to make some room.
From under the car, remove the transmission cross member slowly and lower it with a car jack.
The whole engine/transmission assembly should now be tilted slight giving you access to the top bell housing bolt.
To remove that bolt easily, get a few long extension bars and a flex adapter as mentioned by Shortshift.
Once you have removed top bolts, jack the transmission back up and refit the cross member temporarily while you remove the rest of the bell housing bolts to remove the engine.

Hope that helps!
