Have you checked for vacuum leaks at the intake to head gasket?????
The gaskets dry out and become brittle, and the intake bolts become loose too.

Pakrat, it would be interesting if you put the old ecu back into your car and gave it a cold start run to see if the problem went away. If so we might be on to something here. :)

I'll look into replacing the MAP Sensor and O2 Sensor, but it could very likely be the ECU. My car isn't exactly the "one elderly owner sub 100,000km" example that some are, its done rough roads for a lot of its life, and done lots of long distance stuff (369,729km)

If I can find a Futura with very few km's on it, I'll ask the bloke at the wreckers if I can try the ECU from it in my car.

Cheers,

Shaun

It is a good idea, BUT, if I remove my ecu and replace it with the standard one my car will run a f**k load worse because of the cam. Probably won't be able to notice t he issue because of the amount of fuel it'll be dumping haha.
Should see the black up my shed wall from starting it without the chip in.

Out of curiosity, when ppl are having these issues, mine more recently being cranking & not starting, does the door lock button inside the car function? Mine was acting up. Once it worked the car started fine
