Gday

My car has started running a bit rough when it's cold, but only last for about 30 seconds. When i take off the car will run normal then start to have a flatspot at around 2000rpm and will surge a bit, then when you put your foot down a little further it will go away. When it does go away the car will not surge anymore but seems to still have a bit of trouble getting past that 2000rpm and seems to go up the rev range a bit slower.

Anyone know what this could be?

I just replaced the plugs and the leads are new iv checked for vacume leaks aswell. Could the dizzy be stuffing up?

Cheers

blocked cat convertor. mine had a flat spot like yours, turned out the cat was blocked and needed to be replaced. got a new one and was all good :)

oh and as for your rough running on cold starts, that was also happening to me when my auxillary shaft was on its way out.

Ok cheers

The cat is only a year old and its a stainless 2.5" highflow so that should still be alright, might have check that shaft out

I think i might take it to ultratune and get them to put it on there diag and see if any of the sensors are dead, hopefully its just a sensor.

get the exhaust sniffed by ultra-tune etc or if you have a timing light me. I would short out the top and bottom pins on the left of the diagnostic plug and check the base ignition timing and idle.

ok i went to ultratune this morning, no sensors were dead. Turns out my fuel filters was 90% blocked and you could barely blow through it. The car feels heaps more torquey and revs up much smoother.

Also my timing on my dizzy has been advanced 6 degrees.

I havn't done a complete cold start yet, but the car feels heaps stronger. Hopefully its fine tommorow morning.

Cheers

yeah...good to see it wasn't too much of a problem. If it was the case of just a blocked filter...then I think i shall go and change mine too and see how I go :?...hopefully mine is just the filter and not the auxiliary as well.

If it is the auxiliary shaft. Say hello to a new engine!

Came to a conclusion that the only way for the aux shaft to seize is throught no oil.

Cheers
