Hi There
I have a EL taxi with a mere 861,000kms on it and today it won't start.
The only thing I have done since it last went was to disconnect the battery for chargeing.
I have no spark so i checked the fuses, OK.
I was in the process of swaping coils with my other EL when I noticed a connector that piggy backs onto the mount plate was not connected.
Anyone know what it is and should it be connected?

The plug you are talking about should be a inline single spade terimal plug that connects to the mounting plate bolt. Its the neg/earth wire and should be connected but what gets me is how did it become unplugged in the first place.

Thanks for that Joolz.
I'll connect it up.
I swapped the coils over and the other car starts fine, so srcatch that theory.
Another hiccup is the CRT LP 10amp fuse keeps blowing, what does that stand for?
I'm hoping it's not the dizzie as that looks a real pain to replace. :?

Courtesy lamp - also provides power to the smartlock, so that will be most likely why you have no spark.
She'll motor over fine, but not start.
You'll need to find out why the fuse keeps blowing, probably a short. A few areas off the top of my head: interior lights, glovebox light, radio. The demist switch if the light holder isn't fitted (those contacts just slide and short together).
Being a taxi, it may have had a few 'Habibi' wiring jobs. . . .

Hey SNAP0964 :D :D :D
Thanks so much for that, I had put a new dome light in the other day but it needed bulbs so I had left it.
I just went out and pulled the wiring apart put another 10 amp fuse in and presto up she started.
I got skin ripped off playing with the coils for nothing, well Sh*t happens.
One more item for the knowlege bank.

Chalk another one up to experience. We've all done it - just a little earlier in the timeline . . . .
