A LPG bypass Thermostat will heat up no slower than a gutted thermostat. It should actually heat up a bit quicked as the flow is much less being bypassed than a gutted thermostat.

Will heat up be better than with a stuck open thermostat?

It may do but it would probably be trivial amounts.. nothing worth worrying about.

Another option is to remove the bypass pipe all together.

That will be a job when i next have to replace the inlet manifold gasket haha, which has just been done so wont be for quite a while

Remove the Bypass pipe and you will have no heater or front Demister. See how you go in Sydney in Winter with no Heater. With the heater tap closed very little bypasses anyway. There is a 3/8" jumper pipe between the two pipes which allows flow and removes airlocks.

Yeah, you will have to take that into account.. practicality and function..

I'm in Alice Springs, so heating isn't a big issue for me.. I've always removed aircon (not fussed on A/C either) and heater on the cars I've played around with.

Hi,

I didnt think Falcons ran a bypass thermostat. When closed they divert the water to make the engine warm up faster. http://aimiky.en.alibaba.com/product/97 ... 03090.html Toyota run them in some engines.

Yeah they did. I pulled a bypass one out of my car to replace it.

Btw, an update,

Bought the non bypass thermostat and it works an absolute charm, no dramas at all, she warms up nice and quickly and runs at about 85ºc if im taking it easy, give her abit more and make her work a little she doesnt get over 90ºc. Im loving it!! Thanks everyone for your useful info!
