Hi,I am having trouble getting my 4ltr el fairmont started.It cut out while I was driving the other day and I havent been able to start it since.It turns over and wants to go but as soon as you back the key off it dies.I have checked the spark and the fuel pump,they are ok.It seems like the smart lock has activated.I did the 30 min thing with the key on to override the immobiliser,but it still wont go.Has anyone got any ideas of what the problem would be.

Check your interior light fuse. If it is blown smart lock is activated.
After that, check for spark and injector signal, as it could be your TFI module or coil. |

Ya it seems to have heaps of spark,how do you check for injector signal?

my el was recently doing the same thing, backfired then wouldn't start again, spark and fuel but wouldn't run, new fuel pump, reg, dizzy and coil.. turns out the f**k at ford but the dizzy in f**k and have stripped all the teeth of the worm gear the dizzy drives.. in the shop as we speak.. going to be 1000's... f**k i hate cars..

The interior light fuse is ok,that crosses the smartlock off the list.I will try the injector plug test.Waggen,we are in the same boat.Im hating my car too.I should`ve listened to the other half when he said to get rid of it.Cheers for the tips guys,will keep ya posted.
