You would lose some scavenging effect and so on so the exhaust would not clear from the chambers as well.
Over all not the best idea as I mentioned earlier, but good for a laugh for only a short run. Had a mate in the US do that with his 454ci monster engine. OMG was it LOUD. That thing broke windows in the shed on full song.

heh, reminds me .... did the same with the 1600 kent.... except... no headers and no carby (the manifold held fuel)

the loudest thing i ever heard straight out was my mates monster ported 13b(yeah yeah i know its japanese but by christ it was loud!!!)

I ran my 351 clevo with the headers off once... Straight out the block.. and it actually made your ears ring hard core, And i work in night clubs listening to loud music all the time...
Flames were awesome... House windows nearly came out... not so sure the engine was standard
