My Wagon used to run this setup, was very quiet, not alot louder then stock, no one beleived it had a 2 1/2" Exhaust until they looked under it.. Still didn't help me getting a defect notice for a leak :(

Yea, I'm just looking for the performance, not the big a** note. Dont get me wrong, I love a bad a** sounding car as much as the next bloke, but I'm going for the stealth aspect here. Plus, this car does a lot of long highway miles and drone is the last thing I need.

I do about 1000km of Highway driving & I've just put a louder Exhaust on mine, with the 5 speed its perfect, 4th gear @ 90-100 is loud, chuck it in 5th & ya can hardly hear it.. Drones a bit in 3rd @ 60 & 4th @ 80, chuck it up another gear & its silent again..

Yea, I only got the sludge-o-matic tho. And won't be getting a manual for awhile. I used to have en XF with a 2.5" Lukey, Single Str8 thru system and that was a cackler!! I just wanna keep this car stealth, not have any outward showing that it might have power.

I like ganking commadores

Im looking at a hole new exhaust system for my ED XR6 with a manual gbox.
current ones a bit mangled by a piece of concert, lets not start on that story.
Anyway what is the best overall combo for a full exhuast like brands per part.
Some mates have exhaust on there I6's and they drone like a b**ch, its there a type of brand that doesn't do that as much?

Is it worth it if i don't have a better air intake, or is it a matter of having one of those would just make it have a better effect ?
thanks boys

For the BA XT, the most optimal set in terms of air pressure, air velocity (through system) and torque etc is the extractor, 2.5" and a hiflow cat with CAI. Like the other posts, make sure what u buy is suited for low rev range, esp if for an auto, otherwise u will simply drown in a drowning burping noise and lose excess power. A good setup including labour for all the above should cost around $2000 max.

hmm little bit steep, but yh i was thinking a 2.5" system with hi flow cat. whats CAI ? im noob at this stuff :P.

Just as in good parts by there brand name, like i know pacemakers headers are brilliant. But not sure on what else, i might just go pacemaker headers then the rest a difillipo.

I was actually thinking for more mid to high rev range, but this is on the thinking that im really ever above 3 grand on the tacho if i wanna go fast or be a wanker on the roads. Its a Manual also.

Mate, my ED XR6 (manual) has Pacemaker 4499's, stock cat, and a 2.5" Mandrel bent Lukey straight through system, sounds tuff as (ask Mitch_ and smoke_ ) and my car has ALOT in the top end, it pulls exceptionally hard once it gets above 3000rpm, great system, dont know what it costs though

I have a stock intake (except K&N Panel filter) and my exhaust only drones when you hold it at 2500-3000rpm for a continuous period

well people i got a quote for a stock ED XR6 exhaust and for a whole system from the catback to the tip is $780, for the silly dual system. And for a sports 2.5" system is $420 from catback with a tip. then add another 630 for pacey extactors and ultraflow cat.
yours guys opinions? i still have like 2 months before getting it fixed cause of a money situation :(.

a 2.5" catbacvk should set you back ~220>250, and is only 20mins labour, or do it yourself, if cars stock height you dont even need to lift it :)

as for extractors/cat, what pacies are they?
