Hey guys
Most of you have 2 1/2 inch cat backs on your falcons and i was just wondering how much the insurance went up by when you told them about it?
Cheers

shouldnt have to tel them, doesnt make a dif...suspension is the same with NRMA...no difference. I think they may want to know about extractors...but mainly they are interested in things like metalic paint jobs and big alloy wheels / mags...

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. I've got a sports exhaust already on my NL, and not sure if I should tell the insurance company or not :?

To answer that question folks I can tell you that NRMA will insure your vehicle with,
"a Sports Exhaust and Extractors. " As I got them put on my Comprehensive insurance yeaterday no problems. Their was also no change to my premiums as well.

Be carefull about your telling your Insurer about wheels if they are 7.5 " or wider because they might cancel your insurance on the spot especially with NRMA as this was discussed on another thread.

i have 3rd party f&t ins' with racv and they told me that as long as it's legal, then there's no increase in premiums

In regards to Mags, my insurance company (NRMA and most others aswell) will only allow you to go 2" larger than the original rims on your car. For an AU Forte for example, you can only go to 17" cause they came ou with 15" as standard. However on my car i can go to 19" no worries as standard tickford are 17". If you go bigger than 2" they will cancel insurance, if you dont tell them and they find out when you have a crash, they will canel insurance then and there.

Best is to tell em, my insurance premo's went up very slightly with brand new bigger mags and sports exahust, but thats cause it put the insured value of my car up another $1500.

As 1 SLY 97EL said, 7.5" is the max NRMA would let me put on my ebs. The AU style Xr8 rims are actually 8 inchs outside edge to outside edge, but you have to take off a 1/4" either side of the rim to allow for the alloy thickness apparently. So it made them 7.5" and insurable.

I just got a letter from NRMA last week saying my insurance was not being renewed next year because I have a good stereo system in the car. It was listed on the insurance but if the car was nicked they wouldnt cover the system anyway. Barstards.

Go Just Car. Called them, I can have as many mods as I like as long as there legal. They do cost a bit more but at least my car is covered.

Currently im with gio as it is under my dads name. At the moment we share the car, i wont be getting it till next year and he has allowed me to do some mods b4 i get it. He and i both want a sports exhaust on it but his main concern was the insurance. He thought it would go up by a fair bit. The car is with gio so what are they like with modifications. Is anybody with them?
Thamks your replies have been most helpful.

I'm with CGU, and they are tight on performance... My cat-back upped my premium by $100.
