Reason I ask is when I went to Ford to get a part... their computer system displays a CAD drawing of the engine, and they just click on the part they need and it gives them the part number.

I was wondering if there was anything else like this??? Possibly the whole car, engine, suspension, transmission, diff, brakes... detailed CAD drawings.

Funny, I was playing with something similar today. I've got a line drawing of an EL. AM an struggling to get a decent trace of it in Illustrator. The main issue is the source file is very low res. But if anyone wants a go:

I remember a while ago there was a program that could pull apart the model files from Need for Speed 3 which had an EL GT.. the graphics in that game were not exactly cutting edge though..

I'd love some 2d cad files, anything car related really! Got a cnc plasma that id love to do some artwork on. Got ideas of a nice big photo, 1.5 metres across, in mild steel, with a nice timber border around it. Would go well down the shed!

Coventry's also have the resource system with the drawings. I dont think they will be that easy to come by.

In the past I did up some XR and Ford Logos in Cad for some custom scuff plates and accesories. I think when I get to Brisbane in Late Oct i might get back onto them and get something produced, will have the resources then.

the ford program is called microcat
it has all their parts and heaps of crap with it.
i had a copy of the holden one which was great but its no use for a ford.

apparently there is heaps of security so even if u had the disc you wouldnt be able to use it
