Hey guys first time here, Im having a few issues with my automatic 06 BF MII XR6 Automatic

1. Gear changing seems rough when coming down in gears (in auto mode and when using the triptronic) what could be the issue?

2. The temp gauge seems to move in between quarter and just before half, it stays at quarter on the motorway and when the air conditioner is on, and seems to move in between quarter and just before half during normal driving is this normal? I have done a full coolant flush & fill and replaced the thermostat.

any help would be appreciated :D thanks

1. Does it feel like its "rough?" in the gearbox, driveshaft or rear end? Noises? Clunks?
2. Temp is fine.

feels rough and makes a clunk noise unsure exactly where its coming from because it doesn't happen all the time only when I floor it for a bit then slow down quickly does it do this all the time when the gears are changing down if that makes sense?

My old car was a ford au and it always stayed at quarter, so seeing the temp fluctuate a little made me worried lol.

Probably just the nature of the old 4 speed auto combined with maybe a little worn diff bushes and uni joint play.
As for the temperature gauge mine always sits just below half way at about 11oclock regardless of aircon on or off..

With the temp did you put the factory temp thermostat in?

When the air con is on.. so are the front thermofans.. so that is why the temp is lower.. when you are going over 70 on the motorway.. the airflow is as good or better than the thermofans.. which is why it is low then.. but in my XR6T the temp gets to just before half and stops there and pretty much never budges. (which is why I asked about your thermostat as my car would consider quarter too cold.)

my car barely warms up in this weather (bf mk1 xr6)
but in stinking hot weather with the a/c on it get right up to where you guys are saying your xr6T's are sitting all the time

When was the last time the gearbox was serviced?

Unsure when the transmission was last serviced as I have recently just bought the car, the temp never touches half, the highest it goes is around 11 o clock on the dial similar to a previous poster's comment.

I'll take it in to get the transmission serviced may as well get it done before something major happens.
