I am doing an engine conversion with a BA motor and have a FG sump that I need to put on.
I have a few questions for those that have done or seen this done before.

The FG sump has a protrusion on the side where the dip stick would be on an FG, it extends past the edge of the BA block and needs to be sealed to prevent leaks.
How did you seal it?

The next question is how did you install a dip stick without the provision for it at the rear of the BA block?

Does the splash tray from a BA fit into an FG sump either a straight fit or some modifications?

why the fg sump?

why not just a ba sump so it all fits without having to worry about any of that?

Sorry, I should have put in more information. The reason for the sump is the motor is going into a patrol and I need a rear pan sump for diff clearance.

oh.. well i wont be much help then, iv'e never tried this or had any experience with something like that....

maybe u could modify a ba sump to suit...that way it fits straight up, but i thought the ba/bf compared to the fg wouldnt be TOO different ?? Is it a 6 or an 8?

y not us the normal ba dipstick location?.. or if ur using a fg sump put a fg intake on and us the fg sump dipstick location... fg blocks have the ba dipstick locations blocked by something that comes out.. sorry if that has nothing to do with wat ur talking bout its a bit confusing wat u mean

You are correct that some if not all FG block's have the casting for the BA dip stick position but unfortunately the reverse is not the case, the BA block does not have the casting for the FG dip stick position.

The dipstick goes into the block but it must be right on the edge as the fg sump has a bulge in the side to accommodate it. The bulge extends past the side of the BA block leaving a gap that needs to be filled somehow. It is that somehow that I need to know.

I am in a similar situation at the moment...Territory 4L into my Jeep Wrangler. I think it will be easier & cheaper to simply by a complete FG engine & sell what you have. The Territory sump has a bolt on steel front pan that will be easier to re-shape for diff clearance, but the FG engine complete would be the way to go. Where are you located?

Its a 2 year old thread and he has had the vehicle running for about 18 months now that I know of so Im tipping he wont be selling his motor.

The gap sealed easily with the same sealant that the sump to block uses. Not ideal but works fine. An FG turbo motor was never an option for this project to be viable.
