Has anyone tried or thought about this. Would require some sort of adaptor plate but would allow a much short intake set up.

Because an adaptor plate would have to be used the tuned length would be messed up.

People have thought of it but they must have come to the conclusion it's not with it. Try it!!

I think i will measure the width of the dohc head compared to the sohc. If the dohc is wider, then the distance from the back of the valve to the flange might be greater therefor the use of an adaptor on the sohc might make the manifold work. Then there is under bonnet clearance.

For starters the dohc has a oval shaped port and the sohc is round. Then youv got all the throttle body differences and throttle cable routing/fly by wire throttle on the fg (Altho recently a ba throttle body was modified and fitted to an ef or el fairly easily).

DOHC Head is wider than the SOHC Head. All the extra widith is on the intake side. Making an adaptor to suit could be done but would need to be a single plate probably at least 12mm thick. The other option would be to have the head redrilled and ported to suit the FG Manifold.

It would be simpler to take the lower section of an EF/EL BBM, build a new upper chamber and mount your throttle body like the FG.

Your could even look at using the runners from a Log Manifold

Why not just turn up a throttle body? That way you could make it whatever shape you'd like

Would be awesome if it was a easy fit. With the time and money getting it to fit right, probably be better off with ITB's.

Itb's are the ultimate in under bonnet porn too!
