Wow its been a while since ive posted on here bit now just purchased fg mk2 xr6 ute brand spanker. Just curious on how hard i should drive the thing ? I heard so many different things . Cheers and great to be back in a ford

I was always taught if its brand new, drive it how you intend to drive it.

Drive it normally without thrashing the s**t out of it.

Join the club , ive also got one. Personally I try drive it under a load, either keeping gears low or towing things at best to try keep rings and bores good for the first 1000kms, after that slowly start to feed it every now and again until 5000kms. Never thrash until at opertaing temp, you dont want thing the heat and expand before others, keeping the clearances the same. But after your 5000 you should have a good engine , everyone is different but this is how I wear in my engines :D
