I had this problem a little while back, my el xr6 idled fine but as it revved up it shuddered but stopped after 1500 revs, turns out, one of the injector plugs wasn't correctly clipped on and it was only firing on 5 cylinders, not saying this could be your problem but perhaps it's not firing all 6?
Just a thought,

clipped on? could you please define that a little more? cos i changed my injectors twice, but i may have not 'clipped' them on properely both times too,, so i think it may be the same as yours... but yeah pls tell me what exactly it could be?

thanks in advance

changed the fuel pressure reg, and still did the problem. :(
ps. changing the ignition coil today, hopefully it works.

EDIT:

SOlved the problem. Turns out, the dizzy was out by a tooth. Because once upon a time I read somewhere that the dizzy at TDC should look 45* degrees away from the front of the engine, but after scrutiny, I found out that it should look straight forward to the front of the car. Basically parallel with the engine. It shows it on the dizzy cap anyways. silly me.

All sorted :)
