i have just purchased a BA-XT Ford Falcon 2004 on Gas..

its a X General Duties car so therefor has some ware and tear...

1. what are the upgrades that have been peformed for it to be a police pack car...
2. is it worth removing the police wiring loom.... i have already had one issue where the ford dealership used a water blaster to cleen the engine and shorted the bastard of a car out!
3. whats it cost to get a spoiler for a BA-XT or do any of you guys have one... in white :)

Ebay for the wing.

if the loom doesnt hinder anything just leave it there no drama.

since its an lpg car id say its probably standard. not 100% though.

the 2 things that i know are upgraded on it are

1. suspension. its a good inch lower then my brothers xr6 and and 2 or so then a standard XT
2. the alternator is beefed up....

the police wiring loom isnt hindering anything... its just when it gets wet under there it shorts... the fuse box is full exposed :(

Police BA XT's are stocko... the only thing they mod is run flat tyres, and the suspension... the suspension and tyres are replaced back to the stocko factory ones... which means... you bought a high Km's XT...

On an upside they are usually serviced monthly... which isn't too bad...

Good luck

Had a look at a few before they were being sold off.

They come with heavy duty uprated alternator to run there radio/dispatch equipment.

LSD differential, uprated suspension and chasers.

They do get serviced very often.

Wouldnt touch one, serviced?? maybe, the book was signed anyway, who knows, mine was supposedly serviced by Ford, but the tranny fluid had never been looked at. Would have the Holden equivalent of FE2 susp. Tyres are a bit wider, extra wiring, there is nothing special about ex cop these days. But at least you know it has had the guts flogged out of it by the boys in blue. How much it cost you?

all ba's have trip computer. depending on what gov dept it comes from will determine what is done. the days of ex cop cars having some sort of performance advantage over a regular one are gone. even in times gone by, IF they were chipped up, they weren't sold to the public like that anyway.

most times now, ex cop is a good reason to steer clear of it. i don't know many people that look after a car if it is not their own. prolly a big pile of donut crumbs under the seat as well.

for this car i paid $18,000
that also came with the 17'' XR6 Rims..

they also serviced the gearbox, the car, and the cooling system before i got it...

running from sydney back to the coast i averaged 12.5l/100

its exact 100.2km's from servo to servo on the route i take...

im happy for the price... its got everything i want... and the lpg is what i wanted.... $6.25 for a trip back from sydney... :)
do that in my el!

it BEST managed 10l/100 and that costs $14 these days :(

well inside is verry tidy..

everything is where is should be...

i have a totally unsed spare... its even got plastic on the rims
the only quibble i had was a noise coming from the speaker... that was fixed in 30 secs by tightning the screws around the door...

a new rattle has develiped though.... a ticking from the ac unit...

i have had this drama with fords before... its just something small in the ac duct... ill have a look at it tommrow...

the one conening thing is it backfired today... a nice loude BANG and loss of power for a few secons... i though i had hit a small child in the carpark!

i have located a spoiler for a resonable price... and am also going to be getting XR front (when i have the money)
