hey guys, well finally the au motor was installed into my ef and it all went fairly smoothly..

just some issues with the motor..firstly its got a real bad tappet noise..now these wern't replaced with the rebuild but the motor had about 60k on it so they can't be gone already..i primed them in oil, but the motors been sitting for about 12 months since i put it together..can i expect it to go away or do i need to pull the rocker cover off and replace?

secondly its blowing a little smoke when taking off or reving in N. Its kind of blue and white and doesn't appear to smoke once past 2nd gear..what could be causing this?

its done about 120 km's so far on 15w40 running in oil so ill see how i go after a few more km's and plan to dump this oil at 400km and put in more running in oil for another 500.

Who did the rebuild?? I am running Penrite HPR30. All's well so far....

i did it personally..

also noticed this morning it was blowing black smoke if i accelerated and some fine black dust came out of the exhaust tips onto the driveway..could this be caused by a faulty sensor or something or is the ecu still learning the tune?

if it's rich enough to blow black smoke, it's rich enough to wash and glaze the bores. don't run the engine untill it's fixed. This could also be the cause of the oil smoke.

what was your break in procedure when you first started the engine?
