Hey guys,

I was told by my mechanic that I need to do the brakes soon and that I possibly may have to replace the front discs. I was wondering, if I jack up the car, remove the wheel, is there anyway I can check the width of the discs to see if I have to replace them or machined? If they need replacing then i'd rather source the replacement discs myself, which brings me to my next question, I have no idea what a set of discs is worth and would like to know roughly so i dont get ripped off somewhere.

cheers guys,

You can find reasonable slotted rotors on E bay for about $150 (link) a pair delivered. However you should always replace the pads (E bay again roughly $60 link for a full set front and rear) and wheel bearings ($50 link) at the same time.

Cheap pads squeal like cheap hookers, and you can take that to the bank.
